Three people have reportedly been killed in a suspected gunmen attack at Yan Gwari Market in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The victims, identified as Nanker Andrew, Delshak Jacob and Jessica Thomas, were reportedly killed at the scene of the attack.
Five other people — Polina Colis, Gloria Fwanshak, Sekyen Lonkat and Bamret Thomas — were also reportedly injured and are receiving medical treatment.
One Abdul Muhammad was said to have encountered the attackers as they fled through the Kwata area of the market. The assailants reportedly escaped through the Water Board axis.
The circumstances surrounding the attack, including the identities and motive of the assailants, remain unclear.
The reported casualty figures, as well as the identities and conditions of those injured, are still being verified.
