Police operatives from the Onitsha Main Market Division, with assistance from local traders, have arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of a 17-year-old boy. An automatic pump-action gun was also recovered during the operation.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspects—believed to be security operatives attempting to apprehend another individual—allegedly opened fire indiscriminately, resulting in a stray bullet fatally striking the teenager.

Reacting to the incident, Commissioner of Police, CP Ikoiye Orutugu, condemned the suspects’ unprofessional and avoidable conduct. He has ordered their immediate transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for a thorough investigation.
