Tony Okocha, the interim chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, disclosed that the dispute between Governor Simi Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has escalated beyond control following the collapse of President Bola Tinubu’s intervention efforts. Speaking at a press conference held at the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Thursday, December 14, Okocha asserted that the actions of the four members of the state House of Assembly, led by factional Speaker Edison Ehie, who approved the budget for the 2024 fiscal year presented by Governor Fubara, are based on illegality and will not be recognized. Additionally, the APC Chairman revealed ongoing efforts to persuade Wike to join the party, and upon his membership, he would assume the leadership role within the state party.

Okocha stated, “I wasn’t part of it, but whatever occurred has disintegrated, and reconciliation is now beyond reach.”
