The Federal Government has officially declared December 25, 26, and January 1, 2024, as public holidays.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, acting on behalf of the federal government, has officially declared Monday, December 25, and Tuesday, December 26, 2023, as public holidays to observe the Christmas celebrations. Additionally, Monday, January 1, 2024, has been declared a public holiday to mark New Year’s Day.

In a statement signed by the acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Peter Egbodo, Tunji-Ojo urged Christians to reflect on the life of Jesus Christ, embodying His teachings of humility, service, compassion, patience, peace, and righteousness during this festive season.

The Minister emphasized the crucial role of peace and security as prerequisites for economic development and prosperity.
