The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has refuted claims of inviting former Governor Nyesom Wike to join their party. They dismissed such calls as being made by impostors. In a statement released on Saturday, June 24, the state’s Publicity Secretary, Darlington Nwauju, emphasized that Wike’s past behavior towards APC members during his tenure as governor demonstrated his lack of association with the party.

Nwauju disassociated the party’s leadership from any alleged stakeholders meeting that suggested transferring the party’s benefits to Wike. He challenged anyone to provide video evidence of Wike openly campaigning for the APC in the recent election held in the state. The APC’s state chapter reiterated its unwavering support for the policies and programs of the federal government under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu. They urged “blackmailers” to refrain from using the name of the APC to seek favor from desperate politicians striving for relevance at the national level.
