Tinubu designates Aliyu as the Chairman of ICPC.

President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the appointment of a fresh management team for the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), pending confirmation by the Senate. The newly appointed officials are Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ICPC, and Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu as the Secretary to the Commission.

As per a statement issued by presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelali, the President has nominated the new ICPC Chairman for Senate confirmation. This decision follows the approval of the outgoing Chairman’s request to take a pre-end of tenure leave, effective from November 4, 2023, prior to the expiration of his tenure on February 3, 2024.

Notably, the position of Secretary to the Commission does not require Senate confirmation, and therefore, Mr. Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu’s appointment as Secretary takes immediate effect.

The statement highlights Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu’s substantial experience and achievements as the Attorney General of Jigawa State since September 2019, holding law degrees at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate levels. He was also designated as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria in October 2023.

Mr. Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu is a legal practitioner with over three decades of experience and has rendered commendable service in the public sector, including his roles as a member of the Rivers State Judicial Service Commission and Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Port Harcourt City Local Government Council.

President Tinubu has urged the new ICPC management team to uphold the highest standards of integrity and impartiality as they carry out their responsibilities in all matters presented before them, without any bias or undue influence.
