President Bola Tinubu has reassured Nigerians that his administration remains committed to defeating terrorism, banditry, and other forms of criminality, while also working to secure the release of all kidnapped victims across the country.

The President gave the assurance during the National Inter-Denominational Church Service held at the National Christian Centre in Abuja on Sunday as part of activities commemorating the 2026 Democracy Day celebration.

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, Tinubu also pledged continued efforts to address the economic challenges facing Nigerians and ease the burden on households.

“The government of Nigeria shall never succumb to terror, banditry, or any form of criminal intimidation,” the President stated.

Acknowledging the difficulties confronting many citizens, Akume said the administration was fully aware of the economic hardship, insecurity, kidnappings, and displacement affecting communities in different parts of the country.

“Government is sensitive to all these pains, shares in these pains, and has heard your cries,” he said.

The SGF also congratulated Nigerians on 27 years of uninterrupted democratic governance since 1999, describing the milestone as a reflection of the resilience, determination, and sacrifices of citizens who fought for the restoration and sustenance of democracy in the country.

He noted that Democracy Day serves as an opportunity to celebrate Nigeria’s democratic journey while reaffirming the government’s commitment to national unity, security, and economic development.
