Transformer vandal dies from electrocution in Ogun.

A yet-to-be-identified man was electrocuted while attempting to vandalize a transformer in the Akute area of Ogun State on Friday, January 24.

The state police command spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, explaining that the man climbed into the transformer house and was electrocuted while trying to cut a wire.

The incident was reported to the police by Rasheed Ajagbe, chairman of the Irewole community, who said the community had been experiencing theft and damage to electrical wires from their transformer. Ajagbe told police that around 7 am, he received a call to inspect the transformer and went there with other community leaders. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of the unidentified man and found that he had been attempting to steal wires when he was electrocuted.

Odutola mentioned that a team of police detectives was dispatched to the scene, where they took photographs before moving the body to the General Hospital Ifo mortuary for an autopsy and preservation.
