Trump and Elon Musk Set for Private Meeting Following Public Dispute

U.S. President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk are expected to have a private conversation in the coming days, following an escalating public feud that has drawn national attention.

According to a White House official quoted by the New York Post, the call was arranged at the urging of Trump’s aides, who have been quietly working to de-escalate tensions between the two influential figures.

Despite the high-profile fallout, Trump attempted to downplay the dispute in comments to Politico, saying, “Oh, it’s okay. It’s going very well — never done better.” He also highlighted his poll numbers, adding, “The numbers are through the roof, the highest polls I’ve ever had, and I have to go.”

The feud ignited after Trump publicly criticized Musk during a White House press briefing, lashing out over the Tesla CEO’s opposition to a tax bill that could significantly impact electric vehicle manufacturers like Tesla.

“We had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will anymore,” Trump said at the time. “He hasn’t said anything personal about me — yet. But I’m sure that’ll be next.”

Musk responded sharply on social media, posting on X (formerly Twitter):
“Without me, Trump would have lost the election. Dems would control the House, and Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate… Such ingratitude.”

The tech billionaire took it further by suggesting Trump should be impeached and replaced by Vice President JD Vance. In a controversial follow-up post, Musk implied Trump may be named in the sealed Jeffrey Epstein case files, writing:

“Time to drop the really big bomb: Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”

He added, “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”

The upcoming private conversation between the two aims to restore communication and possibly repair a relationship that once saw mutual praise but has since devolved into open hostility.
