Two Arrested for Stealing 600 Litres of Diesel from Telecom Mast in Bauchi

 The Bauchi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested two men for allegedly stealing 600 litres of diesel used to power an MTN telecommunications mast at Sabon Kasuwa–Railway in the Bauchi Local Government Area.

The command’s spokesperson, ASC Saminu Yusuf, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, November 15, 2025, stating that the suspects — Abdulrahman Jibrin and Munarak Halilu — admitted to stealing diesel from the site for the past year.

“On November 12, 2025, at Sabon Kasuwa Railway in Bauchi LGA, NSCDC officers on surveillance patrol apprehended Abdulrahman Jibrin, 20, and Munarak Halilu, 31, for stealing litres of AGO used to power the generator of an MTN mast located in the area,” the statement read.

Yusuf added that during preliminary investigations, the suspects confessed to repeatedly stealing diesel from the same location for about a year. He noted that the duo will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

Addressing journalists, Commandant Oloyede Nelson Oyerinde commended his officers for their dedication to protecting public infrastructure. He reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to combating crime and vandalism, warning offenders to desist or face the full weight of the law.
