Two boys, aged 16 and 12, have tragically drowned in separate rivers in Delta State.
The 16-year-old, identified as Sylvester, drowned in a river in the Owhelogbo community, Isoko North Local Government Area, on Wednesday.
The 12-year-old’s drowning incident occurred on Saturday, March 15, in the Ugbolokposo community, Isoko South LGA, although details remain unclear at this time.
Eyewitnesses reported that Sylvester had been swimming with friends when he was unexpectedly pulled under the water. One of his friends raised the alarm, and attempts to save him were unsuccessful. The friend rushed to the community for help.
Despite urgent rescue efforts, Sylvester’s lifeless body was recovered around 9 pm. His friends, who claimed he was a skilled swimmer, expressed disbelief over the tragic event, noting that they had swum in the river many times without incident.
