Two individuals have been apprehended for setting fire to a village in Cross River.

Police have apprehended two suspects believed to be responsible for the deaths of three individuals in Nta village, Ikom Local Government Area (LGA) of Cross River State, last weekend.

The suspects, accused of orchestrating the arson attack, were captured in Obubra LGA. Initially detained in Ikom LGA for a brief period, they were subsequently transferred to the state police headquarters in Calabar on Friday, March 15, for further questioning.

Confirming the arrest and detention, the Divisional Police Officer in Ikom, Teryima Anthony, stated that additional suspects would be apprehended in due course. The arson incident occurred amidst a longstanding communal conflict between the Ofunokpan people of the Mbembe tribe in Obubra LGA and the Nta community in Ikom LGA, which dates back to 1993 and was recently reignited.
