The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old man, Gabriel Pius, for allegedly stabbing his elder brother, Abu Simon, to death following a domestic dispute.

State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, confirmed the incident, which occurred in the Idanre area and was reported by a family acquaintance. Officers from the Idanre Division were promptly dispatched to the scene, where they apprehended the suspect.

“On June 27, 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., Gabriel Michael reported the fatal stabbing of Abu Simon by his younger brother, Gabriel Pius, following a domestic disagreement,” Lawal stated.

Gabriel Pius has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation and will be charged to court upon completion of the probe.

In a separate update, the police command also announced several recent security successes, including the arrest of a notorious four-man armed robbery gang, suspected cultists, and fraudsters over the past two weeks.

Commissioner Lawal revealed that the gang, responsible for multiple violent robberies and car thefts across Akure, Owo, Ondo, and surrounding areas, was apprehended by the Tactical Intelligence and Response Squad (TIRS) following a robbery incident in Akure on June 27.

Two gang members were initially arrested outside Ondo State, which led to the subsequent capture of two more suspects, including a well-known receiver of stolen goods.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that this syndicate is part of a wider car-snatching and trafficking network,” Lawal said.

Recovered items include a stolen vehicle and several mobile phones. Efforts are ongoing to recover additional stolen property and apprehend other members of the network, including a suspected arms supplier currently at large.
