2Face’s ‘African Queen’ Crowned No. 1 on Billboard’s Greatest Afrobeats Songs of All Time

Billboard has unveiled its list of the Top 50 Best Afrobeats Songs of All Time, with 2Face Idibia’s classic hit “African Queen” taking the coveted number one spot.

Wizkid emerges as the only artist with two entries in the top 10, with “Ojuelegba” landing at No. 2 and the global smash “Essence” featuring Tems at No. 5.

Other standout entries in the top 10 include:

  • Favour’s “Nwa Baby (Ashawo Remix)” at No. 3

  • Rema’s “Calm Down” at No. 4

  • CKay’s “Love Nwantiti” at No. 6

The remainder of the top 10 is packed with Nigerian heavyweights, including:

  • D’banj’s “Oliver Twist”

  • Davido’s “Fall”

  • Burna Boy’s “Ye”

  • P-Square’s “Chop My Money (Remix)” featuring Akon

While Nigerian artists dominate the list, Ghana is represented in the top 20 by Fuse ODG with “Azonto” (feat. Itz Tiffany) at No. 18, and Sarkodie with “Adonai” (feat. Castro) at No. 19.

Just outside the top 10, Styl-Plus’ timeless hit “Olufunmi” comes in at No. 11, followed by:

  • 9ice’s “Gongo Aso” (No. 12)

  • P-Square’s “Do Me” (No. 13)

  • Davido’s “Dami Duro” (No. 14)

Yemi Alade stands out as the highest-ranking female lead artist on the list, with her breakout hit “Johnny” placing at No. 15.

Rounding out the top 20 are:

  • Wande Coal’s “Bumper to Bumper” at No. 17

  • Phyno’s “Fada Fada” (feat. Olamide) at No. 20

The list highlights the global influence of Afrobeats and its deep Nigerian roots, while also recognizing iconic contributions from across the African continent.
