The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Tuesday, November 28, ousted Mr. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.
The appellate court affirmed Mr. Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa’ad of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the legitimate winner of the March 18, 2023 election in the state. Following a decision by a three-member tribunal panel, presided over by Justice Francisca Isong Nnang, to uphold the speaker’s victory, the PDP candidate turned to the court of appeal. The tribunal had concluded that he failed to sufficiently prove allegations of overvoting and non-compliance with the Electoral Act.
