The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) has refuted rumors of any intention to raise the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly referred to as petrol.
In a statement released on Thursday, February 8, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPCL, Olufemi Soneye, urged Nigerians to refrain from engaging in panic buying of petrol.
The statement emphasized, “The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited assures the public that there is no imminent increase in the cost of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol. NNPCL urges Nigerians to disregard unfounded rumors and assures them that there are no plans for an upward review of the PMS price. Motorists nationwide are advised against engaging in panic buying, as there is presently ample availability of PMS across the country.”
