The Senate has summoned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the Commissioner of Police in the FCT to address the escalating insecurity in the region.

The decision to summon both officials was made during a closed-door session following a motion moved by Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, on the urgent need to improve security measures in the FCT.

Among the resolutions reached, the Senate has urged the Inspector-General of Police to intensify security patrols and surveillance within Abuja and across the country to proactively combat and prevent further kidnappings.

Additionally, the Inspector-General of Police has been tasked with the installation of CCTV cameras in strategic locations within and around Abuja, highways, and other major capital cities to enhance surveillance and deter criminal activities.
