Nigerian Army rescues 386 civilians from Sambisa forest 10 years after abduction

The Army has rescued 386 individuals, predominantly women and children, from Sambisa forest, a decade after their abduction. Brigadier General Abubakar Haruna, acting GOC 7 Division, disclosed this while addressing reporters on the outskirts of Sambisa forest in Konduga LGA. The operation, named “Operation Desert Sanity III,” aimed to clear the forest of terrorist remnants and provide surrendering opportunities to those willing. General Haruna praised the troops’ professionalism and urged them to maintain their performance. Some of the rescued individuals, speaking after their liberation, revealed they had been held captive for a decade.
