
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspect accused of stabbing an Uber driver and stealing his car.
CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the incident to reporters on Monday, February 24, in Lagos.
Hundeyin stated that the incident occurred on Saturday at 7:34 pm in the Ile-Zik area of Agege. According to the police, the Uber driver reported to Isokoko Division that the suspect had boarded his Toyota Camry at Nitel near Old Abeokuta Motor Road in Agege, with the destination set for Marriott Hotel in GRA, Ikeja.
Upon reaching Ile-Zik, the suspect reportedly pulled out a sharp knife, stabbed the driver multiple times, and stole the vehicle.
Following the report, a team of police officers traced the vehicle to Oshodi, where they intercepted the suspect. The suspect was promptly arrested, and the vehicle was recovered.
The police spokesperson also confirmed that the victim had been taken to the hospital for treatment, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
