Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Monday, January 24, that Ukraine has signed 28 security agreements with its partners, according to the presidential press service.

Speaking at an event in Kyiv to mark the third anniversary of the war, attended by several foreign leaders, Zelenskyy suggested that these agreements could form the foundation for security guarantees across Europe.

Among the prominent guests present to commemorate the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion were European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Antonio Costa, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

Zelenskyy emphasized, “On this initial basis, we must create together an effective and sufficient system of guarantees to ensure a just and lasting peace for Ukraine and for all of Europe.”

The agreements, which cover defense, financial, and political cooperation, aim to prevent the expansion of the Ukrainian crisis. Zelenskyy called for greater defense collaboration, particularly in strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, to lay the groundwork for a “new European air shield.”
