A final-year student of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has died following complications from an abortion procedure carried out at a private clinic.
The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Al-Hassan Clinic and Maternity, located in the Sarkin Noma area of Lokoja.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the deceased, identified as 26-year-old Omotosho Dorcas, was six months pregnant and had gone to the clinic to terminate the pregnancy.
Sources revealed that Dorcas died from excessive bleeding during the procedure.
Police detectives reportedly visited the scene, documented evidence, and transported the body to the Federal Medical Centre in Lokoja for preservation.
The individual responsible for the procedure has been arrested, and the case is expected to be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
