The Sokoto State Police Command has rescued a senior officer, SP Musa Amadu, who was abducted by suspected kidnappers in the state.
Amadu was declared missing on August 27, 2025, after his family reported that he had not returned home and could not be reached by phone. The case was confirmed as a kidnapping on August 28 when his brother received a ransom call from the abductors, sources told security analyst Zagazola Makama.
The police command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit launched an investigation and used technical intelligence to track Amadu’s location.
“He was located and rescued at about 5:40 p.m. on August 28 in a remote area behind the back gate of Usman Danfodio University, along Illela Road,” one source revealed.
The officer, found weak and disoriented, was immediately taken to the hospital for medical care. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the abduction.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, suspected bandits abducted Abdullahi Tambuwal, a youth leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Tambuwal Local Government Area. The kidnapping occurred on August 27, the same day SP Amadu was reported missing.
Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
