The Kano State Hisbah Board has seized 1,600 bottles of assorted beer in the Panshekara area of Kano metropolis.

Dr. Mujahid Aminudeen, Deputy Commander General of the board, confirmed the operation during an interview with Punch on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Although he declined to disclose the number of arrests made, Aminudeen said the successful confiscation was made possible through the support and cooperation of the Panshekara community following a tip-off.

“Yesterday, with the help of the Panshekara community, our personnel intercepted and confiscated 1,600 bottles of beer,” he said. “The seized items included bottles, cans, and containers made of plastic. We urge members of the public to continue supporting the board in the fight against the sale and consumption of all intoxicants.”

Aminudeen emphasized that the law establishing the Kano State Hisbah Board clearly prohibits the sale and consumption of beer and other intoxicating substances within the state.

He added that the board plans to intensify campaigns and advocacy visits aimed at educating the public on the dangers of alcohol consumption and other immoral behaviors.

The deputy commander further stated that the board will seek a court order to authorize the destruction of the confiscated items. He reassured that Hisbah personnel will persist in their efforts to eradicate beer consumption in Kano State.
