Police arrest 25-year-old man over alleged fatal stabbing of friend in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Mustapha Isma’il, over the alleged killing of his friend, Halifa, following a dispute.

The incident reportedly occurred on December 26, 2025, at about 8:30 p.m. in the Sheshe area of Kano metropolis. The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the arrest on Wednesday, stating that the suspect allegedly injured the 24-year-old victim during the altercation.

According to Kiyawa, police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene after an emergency call was received on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori. The victim was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor. The suspect was arrested at the scene and taken to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for questioning.

The police spokesperson said investigations are ongoing and that the suspect will be charged to court upon completion. He also urged members of the public, especially young people, to resolve disagreements peacefully and avoid violence.

In his statement to the police, the suspect said the disagreement began while he and the victim were watching a movie on a mobile phone outside a shop. He claimed the argument escalated after a confrontation, which later led to the incident. The suspect expressed regret over the outcome of the altercation.
