Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted two residents of Ora-Igbomina, an Osun community bordering Kwara State.
The attackers reportedly struck a few minutes to midnight on Sunday, February 1, 2026, storming a private residence along the Aran-Orin Road in the Papa area of Ora-Igbomina, where they seized the victims.
The incident comes less than two months after suspected bandits abducted a former Customs officer, Emmanuel Owolabi, in the same community.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, said security operatives have launched a search-and-rescue operation to secure the release of the victims.
“The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. on Sunday. Our patrol team had returned to base when the rain started, and it was during that period that the criminals carried out the attack,” Ojelabi said.
He identified the abducted persons as Tayese Adeyeye and Sunday Adewumi, adding that search teams were immediately deployed and are currently combing the area.
