FC Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has confirmed that he has signed a new two-year contract extension with the club, including an option for a third season.

The 61-year-old German tactician recently guided Barcelona to a second consecutive La Liga title following their 2-0 victory over rivals Real Madrid on Sunday.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s league clash against Alaves, Flick expressed his delight over the new deal.

“Obviously, I’m very happy. It gives me the confidence to continue working for another year or two,” he said.

“I think many coaches would be happy to sign contracts for three, four, or five years, but with Barcelona, I believe it’s better to keep it shorter, and I appreciate that.

“We’ll continue until 2028, and if everything goes well, we’ll decide whether to continue further. I also have the right to stop, just as the club does.”

Flick joined Barcelona in the summer of 2024 and has enjoyed remarkable success, winning two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and two Spanish Super Cups in just two seasons.

The German manager also revealed that his immediate target is to help Barcelona surpass the 100-point mark in La Liga this season.

“Our goal is to reach 100 points, and to do that we must win our remaining three matches,” he said. “We celebrated the title a lot, but now we want to continue playing well.”

Barcelona’s Champions League campaign ended in disappointment after they were eliminated by Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals this season, having previously lost 7-6 on aggregate to Inter Milan in last season’s semi-finals.

Looking ahead, Flick said the team remains determined to compete for more trophies, especially the Champions League.

“It’s our commitment to reach the highest level and win new titles,” he said.

“Everyone dreams of winning the Champions League. We have tried, and we will continue trying. I’m grateful for the trust the club has shown in me.”
