59 Suspected Drug Peddlers Arrested in Plateau State During Security Raid

Troops of Sector 1, Operation Enduring Peace, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilante groups, have arrested 59 suspected drug peddlers during a coordinated raid in Plateau State.

The operation took place at about 12:15 p.m. on June 12, 2026, in the Congo-Russia area of Jos North Local Government Area, following intelligence reports on suspected drug-related activities in the area.

Security sources said the joint team stormed the location and apprehended the suspects without resistance.

The raid also led to the recovery of illicit substances and other items believed to be linked to drug trafficking and distribution.

The suspects are currently in custody and are undergoing further investigation, after which they are expected to face appropriate legal action.

Authorities said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to tackle drug abuse and related crimes within Jos metropolis and surrounding communities.

They also reaffirmed their commitment to sustained intelligence-led operations aimed at restoring law and order across Plateau State.
