A 19-year-old boy, Chiadikaobi Asadu, has reportedly died after allegedly being beaten by family members over accusations that he stole ₦17,000 from his father in Amoka Village, Nru Nsukka, Enugu State.
According to reports, the teenager denied taking the money but was allegedly subjected to hours of physical punishment by his father and some male relatives. He was reportedly tied to a tree and flogged during the ordeal.
Sources said that after the beating, Asadu was instructed to take a bath. However, he was later found unconscious in the bathroom by family members. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was subsequently confirmed dead.
Residents of the community have also alleged that there were attempts to conceal the circumstances surrounding the incident, claiming that the teenager was buried on the same day he died.
The incident has sparked concern among locals, with calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to his death.
