A Chief Magistrate Court 2 sitting in Yola, Adamawa State, has convicted and sentenced two notorious Shila boys to five years in prison each without an option of fine.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday following the conviction.
The court, presided over by Chief Magistrate M. A. Adamu, sentenced Aminu Adamu, also known as Gawa, and Umar Muktar, aka Dan Basi, both residents of Shinko in Yola North Local Government Area.
The duo was arraigned by the Adamawa State Police Command, represented by Inspector Adamu Umar.
During the arraignment, the police prosecutor told the court that the convicts conspired with other suspects, who are currently at large, to attack Mohamed Ali of Mohamed Mustafa Way, Jimeta-Yola.
The prosecutor said the suspects were armed with dangerous weapons, inflicted serious injuries on various parts of the victim’s body and dispossessed him of a mobile phone valued at N235,000.
When the charges were read and interpreted to them in a language they understood, both defendants pleaded guilty.
The prosecution subsequently called the Investigating Police Officer, Inspector Bawa Mohamed Abubakar, who corroborated the defendants’ pleas, leading to their conviction and sentencing.
The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, commended the court for the judgment and assured residents of the command’s renewed commitment to bringing all Shila criminals to justice.
