A federal high court in Abuja has issued an arrest warrant for Edison Ehie, the Chief of Staff to Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State. The warrant, issued by Justice Emeka Nwite on January 31, stems from Ehie’s alleged involvement in the burning of the Rivers State House of Assembly. Ehie, the immediate past Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, is joined by five other individuals based in Port Harcourt—Jinjiri Bala, Happy Benedict, Progress Joseph, Adokiye Oyagiri, and Chibuike Peter, also known as Rambo—accused of participating in criminal activities.

The warrant of arrest was granted through an ex-parte application presented to the judge by the Inspector General of Police (IGP). The application was based on sections 37, 113, 114, 84, and 184 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015, as well as section 35 of the 1999 Constitution and section 32 of the Police Act 2020.
