Troops of Operation Enduring Peace, working alongside community leaders, have rescued a kidnap victim who had been held captive for more than two months in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The victim, identified as Yahaya Uddido, was abducted on April 9, 2026, from the Pikat community in Kanam LGA.

According to security sources, Uddido regained his freedom following sustained non-kinetic efforts involving local leaders and troops of Sector 2 of Operation Enduring Peace. The collaborative engagements reportedly pressured the kidnappers into abandoning the victim in the Kukawa area.

Troops subsequently rescued him at about 12:20 p.m. on June 18.

“The rescue was achieved through continuous engagement and cooperation between community leaders and security personnel. The victim was abandoned by his captors and was safely recovered by troops,” a security source said.

Following the successful operation, Uddido was reunited with his family in Wase Local Government Area.
