The head coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro, has disclosed that Alhassan Yusuf will be absent from the team’s upcoming clash with Cote d’Ivoire due to an injury.

The Royal Antwerp midfielder was substituted by Southampton’s Joe Aribo in the first game against Guinea Bissau, entering the match after Wilfred Ndidi was ruled out of the tournament due to injury.

Peseiro mentioned in a press conference on Wednesday, January 17, “Yusuf is out of the game against Cote d’Ivoire. We hope he will be able to play the next game against Guinea-Bissau. The good thing is that it is not a serious injury. He did the test yesterday, and it was not something serious.”

As a result, either Joe Aribo or Kelechi Iheanacho is expected to step into the starting lineup in place of the 23-year-old midfielder.
