The Ivorian government has officially designated Thursday, January 18, as a public holiday for all schools across the country. Additionally, certain government agencies are scheduled to operate on a half-day basis, concluding their work by 1 pm. This announcement precedes the crucial second group A match against Nigeria’s Super Eagles, set to take place at 5:45 pm (Nigerian time) at the Alassane Outtara Stadium in Abidjan this evening.

The decision aims to ensure that citizens of the francophone nation are adequately prepared and can extend their full support to the Elephants of Ivory Coast as they gear up for the match. Cote d’Ivoire, serving as the host nation, commenced their AFCON campaign with a convincing 2-0 victory over Guinea Bissau, while Nigeria experienced a 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea in their opening game.
