Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is set to step into the boxing ring with MMA sensation Francis Ngannou later this year.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, officially announced the matchup on his social media account. Ngannou made waves in his professional boxing debut by knocking down WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury last October. Although Fury managed to secure a victory on points through a split decision after recovering from the knockdown, Ngannou is eager to face another British heavyweight, Anthony Joshua, who is on the path to rebuild his career following consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk.

The highly-anticipated ten-round bout is scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as confirmed on Friday night by Hearn. In his announcement, Hearn stated, “Tonight we confirm it’s a done deal! @anthonyjoshua v @francis_ngannou collide on a huge night in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – press conference Jan 15 in London with full details dropping soon!”
