In Kogi state, an Islamic cleric named Alfa Fasasi Ola Mejabi and his younger brother were abducted by suspected kidnappers while in the process of transporting a deceased individual. This unfortunate incident occurred as they were escorting the remains of the late Chief Imam of Ayegunle Gbede, Sheikh Musa Olorunkemi, from Lokoja to Ayegunle Gbede in Ijumu local government area for burial. The abduction took place near Oshokoshoko, along the Lokoja-Obajana-Kabba road.

One of the individuals in the vehicle managed to escape the abduction and provided an account to the press. Their vehicle was traveling ahead of the one carrying the late Sheikh Musa’s body, who had passed away on a Sunday morning after a brief illness.

Reports indicate that the abductors have since turned off the victims’ phone lines. Additionally, it has been revealed that the kidnappers contacted the family on Monday morning, demanding a ransom of 10 million naira for the safe release of the abducted individuals.
