Bandits have abducted the wife and son of the village head of Doka Avong in Kufana District, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to a formal report submitted to the Agom of Kufana Chiefdom, the attack took place around 1 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025, when a large group of gunmen stormed the village head’s residence.
The assailants kidnapped Deborah Jonah, 38, the village head’s wife, along with his 14-year-old son, Maxwell Jonah.
The distressing incident was confirmed in a letter signed by Mr. Stephen Maikori, Overseer of Kufana District. “This unfortunate event has caused widespread fear and anxiety within the community,” Maikori stated.
He called for urgent intervention from relevant security agencies to enhance surveillance and strengthen security in and around Doka Avong and the entire Kufana District.
Maikori further stressed the need for “prompt and decisive action” to prevent further loss of lives and property and to restore confidence among the people.
The abduction has intensified concerns over insecurity in Kajuru, an area that has experienced repeated attacks by criminal groups in recent years.
Community leaders are now urging the swift deployment of security personnel to the region to prevent further incidents.
