The management of Federal Polytechnic, Wannune, Benue State, has expelled two students for involvement in cult-related activities.
Dr. Tyover Ashinya, the institution’s Rector, revealed this on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in Makurdi, emphasizing that the polytechnic has zero tolerance for social vices.
“Cultism is increasingly becoming a culture in many Nigerian tertiary institutions. However, as a relatively new institution, we refuse to condone such behavior,” Ashinya stated.
He recounted the incident, saying, “Just yesterday (Monday), we expelled two students over cult-related activities. While in my office, I heard loud noises outside and upon investigation, I found two students assaulting another shortly after they left the examination hall.
“Further inquiry confirmed they were members of a cult group, leading to their immediate expulsion,” he added.
