Former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Čech has announced that he and his wife, Martina, are separating after 26 years of marriage.
The 43-year-old shared the heartfelt news in an emotional Instagram statement on Thursday.
Čech and Martina had been together since their teenage years, with Martina supporting him throughout his illustrious football career.
The couple has two children, Damian (16) and Adela Čechová (17), both of whom are following in their father’s footsteps.
Adela is a defender playing for both Fulham and the Czech Republic U17 team.
Čech accompanied his announcement with a black-and-white photo of the two, showing Martina kissing him on the cheek. The couple first met in high school in 1999 and married in the summer of 2003.
He wrote: “Martina and myself are sad to announce that we are separating after 26 years together. We remain best friends and are immensely proud of our two children.”
