An Ogun State Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ifo Local Government Area has sentenced controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, to three months in prison with an option of a ₦30,000 fine.
Portable was convicted on two counts—assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest. The charges stem from an incident in November 2022, during which he physically attacked a police inspector and obstructed officers attempting to serve him an arrest warrant. He was later arrested in March 2023.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Olumide Awoleke, told the court that the offences occurred on November 18, 2022, around 11:00 a.m. in Okeosa, Ilogbo, within the Ifo Magisterial District.
According to the charge sheet, Portable and accomplices—still at large—were involved in assault and theft of music equipment, including a Yamaha H55 studio monitor and an AKG P420 condenser microphone.
Chief Magistrate Babajide Ilo found the singer guilty on Counts 1 and 2. He was sentenced to one month in prison with an option of a ₦10,000 fine for the first count, and two months in prison with an option of a ₦20,000 fine for the second.
