Eleven Women and Babies Rescued from Bandits’ Hideout in Zamfara

Eleven people abducted by bandits from Jaibaba village in Turba Ward, Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State, have been successfully rescued by security operatives.

The victims—comprising seven women, three babies, and a teenage boy—were freed from captivity in a forest located in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

On Wednesday, July 23, 2025, the rescued individuals were officially received at the Sokoto Government House by Deputy Governor Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir, who praised the security agencies for their swift and effective intervention.

Reaffirming the state government’s resolve to combat insecurity, Gobir announced a support package of ₦100,000, along with a bag each of millet and maize, for every rescued victim.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Isa Local Government, Alhaji Sherifu Abubakar Kamarawa, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the state government for its support and commitment to the welfare of the affected individuals.
