Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Peter Rufai passes away at 61

Nigerian goalkeeping legend Peter Rufai has passed away.

According to family sources, Rufai—affectionately known as Dodomayana—died on Thursday morning, July 3, after a long illness.

Peter Rufai was a former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Over a 20-year senior career, he played professionally in Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain.

He proudly represented Nigeria in two World Cups and two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

May his soul rest in peace. Amen.
