The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Special Committee on Examination Infractions (SCEIi) has submitted its report to the examination body.

The committee’s chairman, Jake Epelle, presented the findings in Abuja to JAMB’s Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede.

Epelle revealed that the team uncovered 4,251 cases of “finger blending” and 192 instances of AI-assisted impersonation using image morphing during investigations into the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

In addition to finger blending and AI impersonation, the committee documented 1,878 cases involving false disability claims, forged credentials, multiple National Identification Number (NIN) registrations, and collusion between candidates and examination syndicates.

Inaugurated on August 18, the panel was tasked with investigating the rising cases of malpractice, reviewing JAMB’s examination systems, and recommending reforms.

Epelle expressed concern that exam malpractice has become highly organized, technology-driven, and alarmingly normalized. He also pointed to the complicity of parents, tutorial centres, schools, and even some CBT operators, while noting that weak legal frameworks hinder effective enforcement.

The committee urged JAMB to implement a multi-faceted strategy, including the deployment of AI-powered biometric anomaly detection tools, real-time monitoring, and the establishment of a centralized Examination Security Operations Centre.
