The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested 62 individuals following a raid at the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area.

Deputy Commandant of the Board, Mujahid Aminudeen, confirmed the arrests in an interview with Punch on Monday, August 18, 2025.

Aminudeen explained that the suspects, comprising 27 males and 35 females, were apprehended during a joint operation with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Sunday.

“On Sunday, our personnel, working alongside NDLEA operatives, arrested 62 people at NITT in Dawakin Kudu following an intelligence tip-off from concerned citizens,” he said.

He added, “The suspects took advantage of the intermittent rain in the area to gather and engage in immoral activities. We want to warn youths involved in such acts to desist or face legal consequences.

“The Hisbah Board will not tolerate violations of Shari’a law and urges the public to continue reporting those involved in such behaviors.”

Aminudeen also noted a similar operation was conducted at Tamburawa Bridge, where individuals were detained for related offenses.

He stated that all suspects will be charged in court once investigations are complete.
