David Abiodun has pleaded guilty to the abduction of 17-year-old Divine Ayeni, a student of the University of Ibadan, before the Federal High Court in Ibadan.

Abiodun entered the guilty plea on Monday, July 7, in response to a two-count charge of kidnapping brought against him by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Following his plea, Justice Nkeonye Maha adjourned the case until September 23 for the presentation of facts and delivery of judgment. She also ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Centre pending the next hearing.

DSS counsel, Mr. T.A. Nurudeen, informed the court that the kidnapping took place between May 19 and June 5, 2024, in Ibadan. He stated that Abiodun unlawfully abducted the victim, thereby restricting her freedom.

The charges against Abiodun are in violation of Sections 24A and 30A of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
