NBA player Marcus Morris Sr. arrested on fraud charge

Marcus Morris Sr., a 13-year NBA veteran, was arrested on a fraud charge in Florida, according to online booking records.

The 34-year-old power forward was taken into custody Sunday in Broward County. Authorities released a booking photo showing Morris with a neutral expression.

Morris played college basketball at the University of Kansas and was selected 14th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets. After two seasons in Houston, he went on to play for several teams, including the Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and Los Angeles Clippers.

Most recently, Morris appeared in the 2023–2024 NBA season, splitting time between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Philadelphia 76ers. Over the course of his 13-year career, he averaged 12 points and 4.4 rebounds in 832 games.

Morris has had previous legal encounters, including entering a diversion program after a 2012 battery charge and being acquitted in a 2015 assault case.
