The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has announced a N5 million reward for anyone who provides information leading to the recapture of inmates who escaped from the Medium Custodial Centre in Ilesha, Osun State.
The escape occurred on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, after heavy rainfall caused the facility’s aging perimeter wall to collapse, allowing the inmates to flee.
In a statement released on Wednesday, May 21, Umar Abubakar, the Deputy Controller of Corrections and Public Relations Officer for NCoS, urged the public to report any information on the whereabouts of the escaped inmates to the nearest security agencies.
The statement emphasized that all tips would be treated with strict confidentiality and anonymity.
“To encourage public participation, the NCoS is offering a cash reward of N5 million to anyone who provides valuable information that leads to the recapture of the escaped inmates from the Medium Custodial Centre in Ilesha,” the statement read.
The NCoS further encouraged members of the public to report any relevant information to the nearest security agencies, assuring them that all details will be handled discreetly.
