Mudashiru Obasa, the lawmaker representing Agege Constituency I, has been re-elected as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Obasa’s re-election took place on Monday, following the resignation of Mojisola Meranda, who stepped down from the position.

Meranda had assumed office just seven weeks ago after the lawmakers unanimously impeached Obasa.

Obasa’s re-election came after the nomination of Noheem Adams, the former Majority Leader of the House and representative of Eti-Osa Constituency 1.

Obasa had previously dismissed his impeachment as a “joke,” asserting that the process had not followed the proper procedures.
