According to reports, Palace aides allegedly prevented Prince Harry from having a heartfelt conversation with his father, King Charles, over concerns that he would overstay his welcome. After King Charles’s recent cancer diagnosis, Prince Harry had hoped to spend a few days at Sandringham upon his arrival in London. However, he was instructed to visit Clarence House for a brief face-to-face meeting before being asked to find accommodation elsewhere for the night.

A source told The Sun on Sunday, “Harry came over to see his father, expecting to go to Sandringham. But instead, he was asked to be at Clarence House and was restricted to 30 minutes. The fear was that if he went to Sandringham, they would never get rid of him.”

These comments come amid reports suggesting that Prince Harry has little chance of rejoining the royal family, with insiders claiming that Prince William would not allow it, citing concerns that Harry and Meghan Markle “cannot be trusted.”

Prince Harry’s trip from the US to the UK raised hopes for reconciliation with King Charles and an opportunity to reach out to his brother, Prince William. In an interview with Good Morning America, Harry expressed hope that his father’s illness could bring the family back together, stating, “I love my family” and expressing gratitude for being able to spend time with his father during his visit to the UK.

Despite being a counselor of state, Prince Harry is not expected to take on any of the King’s duties while he recovers from illness. Palace sources emphasized that there had been no offer made to Harry to resume a “half in, half out” hybrid royal role. They also reiterated that the terms of the Sandringham summit agreement, which detailed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s departure from the working royal family, remain unchanged despite the King’s illness.
