The Adamawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Muhammad Auwal Idris, a young tea seller from Nassarawo Borehole in Jimeta, who was allegedly attacked by a group of youths.
According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the deceased’s brother, Aliyu Idris, reported the incident at the Doubeli Divisional Headquarters on September 28.
Nguroje said Aliyu reported that his younger brother, Muhammad Auwal Idris, had allegedly been attacked by four individuals earlier that day.
Following the report, police operatives were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they found the victim unconscious. He was subsequently rushed to a medical facility for emergency treatment.
However, upon arrival at the hospital, a doctor on duty examined the victim and confirmed that he had died. His remains were later deposited at the mortuary pending an autopsy.
The police spokesperson said preliminary investigations have identified the alleged suspects as Isa, Japhet, Omo and Henry. He added that the suspects are currently at large, while police operatives are making efforts to locate and apprehend them.
Nguroje urged members of the public to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands, assuring that the command has commenced necessary investigative procedures to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and bring those responsible to justice.
