
Authorities in Akwa Ibom State have launched an investigation after the lifeless body of a young woman, identified as Goodness Edem Israel, was discovered in a gutter along Udok Street, off Barracks Road, in Uyo, the state capital, early Wednesday morning, June 25.
According to the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, the body was found by local residents, who immediately alerted the police. At the time of this report, the cause of death remains unknown.
Eyewitnesses noted that there were no visible signs of violence such as machete cuts or gunshot wounds. However, foam was seen coming from the deceased’s nose, prompting speculation about the circumstances surrounding her death.
Police spokesperson DSP Timfon John confirmed the incident and said the victim was identified through a National Identification Number (NIN) card found on her body.
“The name on the NIN found with the body is ‘Goodness Edem Israel.’ An investigation is currently underway, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available,” DSP John said.
The incident has raised concerns among residents in the area, who are calling for improved security measures and a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind the young woman’s death.
